Our decision
I have not written in a while as we have been very busy figuring out the next step we should take in our lives. It is nearly 6am here and I am wide awake this Sunday morning so I am gonna take this chance to catch up...
We have lived in Raleigh for a year now. Kenny has been working at Virtual Heroes and me at home and now CSC Sheet Metal. A few months ago Kenny and the other guys he works with started worrying about their jobs and the lively hood of VH since there were not alot of future projects. Since Kenny is very responsible and always looking out for us, he decided to apply at a studio in California that he has always wanted to work for and was given an art test to complete. He thought if we moved back to California then the job market would be secure and he could accomplish a goal of working at this particular studio. Kenny worked some very long hours on the art test and then turned it in.. they came back with the remarks that they loved it but wanted him to work on a certain area longer so he did and then turned it back in. He then found out that this was not what they were looking for and confused and frustrated he sought after better feedback from our friend that works there and then spent more countless hours perfecting his art before sending it on again... this time he nailed it and they scheduled a phone interview and then 1 week later they flew him out for the face to face. Now during this time I was having mixed feelings about moving back to California... on one hand I would love to be with our friends again, walk on the beach, and have some time off to figure out what my career move would be. But on the other hand I really like it in Raleigh, we are making friends here, I dig my job, and best of all we are close to family. Also, we are a short drive away from either mountains or the ocean.
So, Kenny comes back from the interview with an offer and we start the process of calling movers, getting boxes, packing, giving notice to work and our apartment complex because of course in this industry once an offer has been made the time frame is short for the start date.
My boss and coworkers were sad that I was leaving but they tried to be understanding as well. At this point, I was excited but not excited like I thought I would be... but I kept going.
Kenny officially accepted the job and then gave his notice a couple of days after the above stated had already took place. *** This is where the story takes a surprising twist*** Kenny learned that VH did not want him to leave and they shared some reasons why he must stay and then of of course this caused quite the confusion for Kenny and then we really had to figure out the best thing to do. (especially since he had already verbally accepted the new job) To try and help us I wrote a list of the great things about Raleigh and the pros of living here vs. the pros of living in California. We also talked about the cons.. so we had the "pros & cons" conversation. From this discussion mixed with the discussion Kenny had with VH we decided that it was not time for us to leave Raleigh and so now Kenny had the difficult task of turning down a job that he had previously verbally accepted. I also had to go back to work and tell them I was staying.. which lucky for me they were very happy and excited. However, Kenny's task was harder as the studio was upset and a little angry to hear of our decision. Now keep in mind that this is the summarized story and there are alot of little things surrounding this story and this was not an easy decision to make... it was quite stressful actually. Lots of sleepless nights, confusion, tears, lists, talking, etc. to get to where we are now. But, we are happy with our decision and we even feel like mature adults for making it. ha.
So now fast forward to the fact that we are staying but turned in our notice to move out of our condo... we were going to move downtown Raleigh into a loft but after looking around found most of them to be for sale and not rent. We also started talking about the fact that we have a garage here, a 2nd bedroom and bath for guests, we are close to our friends and the places we frequent and the price to live here is about $200-300 cheaper a month. Therefore we made another mature decision to stay here but redecorate.
So.. more on that later as I am now taking a break from writing...
Oh... and since all of this VH got a new project.. Woo Hoo!!

Lots of stuff going on...
We have some new stuff in the works..... will have to report back when final decisions have been made...
In the meantime..
When did it become acceptable for women and men to hug and show emotion w/out it "meaning anything"? What happened to the days when women wore gloves and carried fans as an accessory? I guess the sexual revolution??? Perhaps before that? I recently watched A Good Woman.. on netflix streamed through our Tivo and these thoughts came forth... there is a certain grace and respect lost I believe in modern times...
I went 4 days w/out wine... wow for me... I could have made it all week if it were not for the stress I feel right now... my jaw was clenched so tight today. No worries for my readers but there is alot going on right now...
I enjoy coffee now.. on these cool mornings.
I have lost a few pounds..
Kenny smokes and it worries me..
We are going on a cruise in less then 2 months with Martin & Eileen.. soooo excited!!!
I love my pups sooo much!!
I can dance like a pro!!

Saturday Night...
Kenny & I went on a date Saturday night and it was so much fun! We have been craving a new place to dine that has "different" food than the usual places we go. Sooo.. we chose to Tasca Brava downtown Raleigh to have Tapas. We have had Tapas before but not like this... it was amazing! We shared 5 different things such as Eggplant Chips, Octopus with potatoes, Plantains with sausage, Puffy Bread, and Chicken Empanadas. I also had Sangria that was very yummy and Kenny had a red wine that paired quite well with everything he ate. Afterwards we went to a newish bar called Brooklyn Heights (which happened to be next door to Tasca Brava) and we met some cool peeps to talk to for a while. We were also introduced to flavor infused hot sake... for which I have 2 words... "the bomb". Lastly we came home and took each others picture with the pups that were very happy to see us... great night!!

Party over here... Party over there.... (PART 1)
Friday, 4pm was when the 1st party of the weekend began... It was held at Mike's (owner of CSC) house. Kenny was still in Florida for work so I went with my friend Carla:
I was pretty light on drinking that night.. and just stuck with beer... I really did not eat much but had a great time instead talking and hanging out with my friends from work.... (my boss is to my right)

Party over here... Party over there.... (PART 2)
So, Saturday night is another story.... Kenny and I were invited to meet downtown Raleigh at Solas.. a new "hip" spot that is 3 stories tall.. we did not arrive until 10:30pm so I should have known the night of drinking was gonna be insane. I started off with a beer and the same for Kenny and the next thing I knew I was drinking an endless glass of Cosmos and taking girly shots with the girls. It was sooo much fun though as we have not partied like this in years... also, I had an excuse to wear my new, super cute dress from Anthropologie that I fell in love with at 1st sight and just had to have. Anyway, the night was great and we even closed the place down around 3am... BUT suddenly and sadly the fun halted as I found myself quite inebriated.. so much that at home I tripped and fell on the bathroom floor in the dark as I raced for the toilet. (I made it but have a huge bruise to remember the night by)
..... Oh, thank goodness this does not happen often....

This weekend...
This weekend was pretty chill... we went to Carolina Ale House Friday night with a couple of friends from work.. and then Saturday I took Maeby to the vet for some shots..and they poked her a little too hard to cause an "ouchie" and then wrapped it in pink tape as seen above. Saturday night we went to dinner at Fujisan- Hibachi style dinner.. yummy.
I made sugar cookies on Sunday.. I had no idea how messy and time consuming this was but hours later and home made icing bloopers included.. I made some yummy butterfly shaped sugar cookies....
Kenny approves.
